This kotansu is handmade out of two unusual examples of white oak. It is solid wood (except the drawer bottoms) and is designed to allow expansion and contraction of the wood as the weather changes. Even the back is made of three pieces of joined solid wood and is "floating". The 'live edge' on the back corner reveals the drawer's inner workings.
